Coco is an animated film about family, the dream to become a musician and the history of a family. 12 year old Miguel Rivera dreams about becoming a famous musician, and his great idol is the late Ernesto de la Cruz. But playing music has been banned in the family since their grandfather, Hector Rivera, decieted their grandmother many years ago.
When a talent competition is announced to be on “the Day of the Dead”, Miguel decides that he will participate no matter the costs. He goes to the cemetery to fetch Ernesto’s guitar, which is in the tomb, and then the action begins.
Although Miguel is going to visit the dead, the story is both fun, exciting and unique.
The film was produced by Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Pictures in 2017. It has won many prizes, amongst others an Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA Award.
