Ólavsøka 28th – 29th of July
The national holidays are held on the 28th and 29th of July. People come from all across the country to celebrate together. There is singing, sports, dancing and many other activites for everyone to enjoy. At midnight on the 29th of July, everyone meets in the centre of town to sing and afterwards joining together in the Faroese chaindance.
In 2020, however, it will be different, and we will sing in our neighbourhood instead. Ólavsøka will be smaller in scape this year, but we are still looking forward to celebrating the national holidays of the Faroe Islands in 2020.
