  • The village of Miðvágur

Miðvágur is a small village on the island of Vágar with 1128 inhabitants (in 2023)

In Miðvágur you will find one of the oldest house on the isle of Vágar. It’s called Kálvalíð, and was originally used to rehouse priestwidows about year 1600 and thereafter.

Miðvágur has also been the home of the priests on the island for centuries, and has a lot of stories about such.

Due to the high number of British soldiers sationed here during World War 2, Miðvágur also has a separate cemetary where those who died on the post were laid to rest.
