Hestur

Dramatic nature, rich birdlife and friendly locals.

From Gamlarætt in Streymoy, you can take the ferry to Hestur. The island only has one village, also called Hestur and has 17 inhabitants. Hestur is known for its long, narrow shape - this is also the reason for its name, which means Horse.

Many tours are made by boats to see the majestic cliffs in Hestur. There, you can enjoy beautiful nature and a rich life with seabirds. During the summer, TUTL arranges grotto concerts in Klæmintsjógv on board the historic schooner Norðlýsið.

The island is also good for hiking. Just follow the blue poles - read more in hiking here
